PETFusion 2.0 is an all-in-one machine that turns standard PET water bottles into 1.75mm printing filament. It cuts the bottle into strips, melts the strips through 3 heated hotends, optionally colorizes the output, and welds individual strands into continuous spools.

Every structural component is 3D-printable. The non-printable hardware costs around $114 on AliExpress, with direct buying links provided in your download.

Funded in 3 hours on Kickstarter. Backed by 800+ makers worldwide. PETFusion 2.0 is the sustainability machine the maker community asked for, refined across 15+ design revisions in real workshops.

Key features

Built-in bottle cutter
Blade system slices PET bottles into consistent strips. No external tools needed.
🔥
3 heated hotends
Sequential melting through 3 zones produces stable 1.75mm filament strand.
🎨
Inline colorizer
Dedicated colorizer module adds pigment to your filament as it extrudes.
🔗
Filament welder
Joins individual strands end-to-end for continuous spools.
🌡
Temp controllers
3 independent W3230 controllers, one per hotend. Tune per material.
Universal PET bottles
Works with 500ml-2L bottles. Coke, water, juice, any PET (marked ♳).

How it works

01
Drop in a PET bottle
Any standard 500ml-2L PET bottle. Empty, rinse, dry. Done.
02
Built-in blade cuts strips
Machine cuts the bottle into one continuous strip ready for extrusion.
03
3 hotends melt + form
Strip passes through 3 heated zones at the right temperature for PET.
04
Optional pigment add
Colorizer module mixes in pigment for custom colored filament.
05
Welder joins strands
Multiple strands welded end-to-end for continuous spool feeding.
06
Spool the result
Wind onto your spool. Ready to print on any FDM machine.

A note from the team

We built PETFusion to stop buying filament.

Filament prices kept climbing. Bottles kept ending up in our recycling bin. We thought, why are we paying $30 for plastic we are already throwing away? So we built a machine to fix that.

Then 800+ backers said they wanted one. We rebuilt the design 15 times based on what they reported from their workshops. The price you pay is roughly what they paid. We are not marking up the work, we are just sharing the result.

What makers are saying

Saket S. · Mumbai★★★★★

Built it from local Kirkland water bottles my office throws out. Hits 1.75mm output pretty consistently now after I dialed in the temp on the second hotend. The colorizer is way more fun than I expected.

Hannes R. · Vienna★★★★★

Print quality is better than the cheap recycled spools I was buying off Amazon. Took a weekend to build, the assembly video is honest about which steps are easy and which need patience.

Sourcing the worm gear motor took a while in the UK, ended up paying twice the AliExpress price. But the design itself works as advertised. Made about 8 spools of bottle filament so far. Kids love watching it run.

I had wiring questions and the team responded the same day. The welder module is the highlight, lets me chain multiple bottles into one spool without splices. Big quality jump from PETFusion 1.0.

Got the commercial license and run a small recycling stand at our local maker fair. People love watching bottles turn into filament live. Pays for itself in about 6 weekend events.

Honestly

You probably won't even need our help.

We over-document everything. The 75-minute video shows every cut, every wire, every temperature setting. The BOM has photos and direct links. Crimp connectors only, color-matched.

Most makers finish without sending us a single email. That's the goal. But if you do hit a snag, info@creative3dp.com, real human, usually same day.

Quick questions

Which PET bottles work best?
Any standard PET bottle marked ♳. 500ml to 2L size. Coke, water, juice, sparkling water, all fine. Empty, rinse, dry. The smoother the bottle surface, the more consistent the filament.
How is this different from ExtrudeX?
ExtrudeX recycles failed prints and waste plastic granules. PETFusion specifically processes whole PET bottles into filament, with built-in cutting, multi-zone melting, colorizing, and welding for continuous spools.
What if I have never wired anything?
Crimp and quick connectors only. No soldering. The wiring is color-matched and the assembly video walks through it step by step. Most buyers are first-timers.
Build time?
1–2 weekends end-to-end. Active assembly is 4–6 hours. Rest is print time for structural parts (runs in background).
What do I own after I buy?
The files are yours forever. Print as many copies of the build as you want for personal use. Lifetime updates included.
